OUR CEO
Leonard H. Powell is founder and CEO of POWELL & REESE, INC., Management Consultants. As a consultant, Mr. Powell has over 20 years of experience in assisting organizations confront issues of organizational effectiveness. He has built an international reputation as an expert consultant and trainer in the areas of: Organizational Effectiveness, Quality Management, Process Improvement, Workforce Motivation and Empowerment, Cultural Diversity, Specialized Studies and Assessments, and Complex Systems Change. Mr. Powell's organization refines organizational processes, by striving for continuous improvement. The philosophy of continuous improvement is a central underpinning of his management practices. He advocates leadership styles that inspire exceptional performance and create environments where all contributors have the opportunity to reach their full potential. As a career military officer, Mr. Powell served as Chief of the Management Analysis Division at Ft. George G. Meade Army installation. While there he conducted management studies to evaluate the efficiency of base operations related to congressionally mandated initiatives. An integral aspect of these evaluations involved identifying work processes, and analyzing individual tasks to support a more efficient organization. Mr. Powell is a nationally recognized speaker and has been annually invited to conduct workshops for the Federally Employed Women's National Training Program. He has also presented at other conferences including: the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the American Management Association, the Social Security Administration, the National Education Association, the National Image Conference, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Maryland Banker's Association, and the Maryland Association of Affirmative Action Officers. An alumnus of Hampton University, Mr. Powell also holds graduate degrees from Golden Gate and Boston Universities. He is a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College, and Army Organizational Effectiveness Consultants Course and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore City Community College, and with the American Management Association. His professional certifications include: Controlling Quality in Service Organizations: The Deming Method: George Washington University; Developing Criterion Referenced Instruction: the Mager Institute; Management Analysis and Review: Office of Personnel Management; Certified Trainer for The Human Element: Will Schutz Associates; Advanced Facilitation: Interaction Associates; and Certified Practitioner/Neuro-Linguistic Programming: Evolutionary Services Institute. He has recently completed a professional development program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. |
